Milka Duno Profiled on CNN International Beginning June 12
Los Angeles, Ca. (June 9, 2012) – Professional race car driver Milka Duno will be profiled during the month of June on CNN International’s Leading Women series. Leading Women connects CNN International’s viewers with extraordinary women at the top of their chosen field. The series will focus on influential women across all areas of business, the arts, sport, culture and more.
During each month of 2012 CNN International viewers will have the chance to meet some of the most influential women of our time in this new series that will highlight their careers, lives and ideas. Two remarkable women will be profiled each month.
This month Jennifer Li, CFO of Baidu, the world's largest Chinese-language search engine will be profiled with Duno.
Leading Women will focus on Duno’s racing career and will touch on her being a female driver in a traditionally male-dominated sport, her family, heritage and future plans.
Duno has eight major race wins in the highest classes (Prototype) in the American Le Mans Series and Rolex Series and the highest finish ever by a female driver (2nd Place) in the 24 Hours at Daytona in the now 50-year history of the race. She is also the first Latina to qualify for and compete in the Indianapolis 500 in the now 101-year history of the legendary event. Off the track, Duno is a certified Naval Engineer who holds four master’s degrees, earning the last three simultaneously. Duno is also working through her “Milka Way” program to inspire youth to “Aim for the Stars” and achieve academic excellence.
Duno joins a list of women already profiled that includes notables such as fashion designer Carolina Herrera, Google VP Marissa Mayer, Telenor EVP and president of the Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise Kristin Skogen Lund, Marvell Technology Group co-founder Weili Dai and 2011’s “World’s Best Female Chef” Anne-Sophie Pic.
On Tuesday, June 12, the first segment of Duno’s profile on Leading Women will appear across CNN International and also online at http://edition.cnn.com/SPECIALS/leading-women/index.html
Leading Women airs as five-minute weekly segments on the first four Tuesdays of each month on CNN International’s Connect the World and News Stream. A wrap up of the June segments will be featured in a 15-minute program near the end of each month. The segments and additional information will also be posted to the website above.
