     6 Heures du Mont-Tremblant Mid-Race Report

May 23, 2004 -  The #2 CITGO-branded Pontiac Crawford Daytona Prototype, with drivers Milka Duno, Andy Wallace and Jan Lammers, started the 6 Heures du Mont-Tremblant on Sunday, May 23, 2004 in 14th position on the grid with the qualifying driver - Milka - behind the wheel.

The six-hour endurance event was green-flagged at 11:10am and Milka ran hard and mid-pack until the first caution of the race at 12:12pm - 1 hour and 1 minute into the race. Milka was able to keep the #2 CITGO Pontiac Crawford Daytona Prototype on the lead lap while at the same time advancing the team's effort from 14th position overall to 12th. Milka had completed 37 laps and scored her best lap time of 1:35.050 in her 24th lap.

"At the start of the race it was quite busy as all of the cars were bunched together," said Milka. "At first I was experience a slight difficulty with the brakes - but this passed as time went on. I was happy that I was able to turn the car over to Andy during a caution so as to save time that a green-flag stop would have eaten up."

Andy took over during the caution and by 1:31pm - a little over an hour later - Andy had placed the car 4th overall and 6 minutes later had moved into 3rd. At 1:57 pm, still 3rd overall, Andy had shortened the distance behind the leader to only 32 seconds. Another perfectly timed caution at 2:14pm gave the team yet another time-saving opportunity for a tire, fuel and driver change pit whereby Andy handed the car over to Jan.

"It was a pretty good stint," said Andy. "There's a lot of traffic out there and we were peddling as fast as possible. A few times I was caught up with some slow cars - nothing major - but just because it's a tight circuit. But a great circuit I have to say! Fantastic! It's wonderful with all of these elevation changes. The car is running really good, although we've got just a bit too much understeer. I think if we had had another day or so to set the car up I think we would have been right at the top. But anyway, we're in a good position and I'm very happy"
