WATKINS GLEN PRE-RACE REPORT

June 19, 2004 - Under dark skies and a newly rain-washed track Milka Duno and CITGO Racing qualified 12th overall for the Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen at Watkins Glen International in Watkins Glen, New York this weekend, June 18-20, 2004.

This race will be the 2nd six-hour race of the season and finds regular teammates Milka Duno and Andy Wallace once again joined by Jan Lammers in the #2 CITGO-branded Pontiac Crawford Daytona Prototype. Jan joined Milka and Andy in the team's last race at Mont-Tremblant - the 1st six-hour race of the season.

Milka turned a total of 7 laps in the qualifying session - improving her time with each lap - and delivering a fastest lap time of 1:48.710 in her 7th and last lap. Milka's time was only 39-thousandths of a second behind her nearest competitor Max Papis.

"I had hoped for a little better result," said Milka. "The rain has affected our sessions somewhat, but the car was much better in qualifying than it was even in the practice session during the rain this morning. My compliments to the team and the engineers - the car just keeps getting better and better with each session."

Track activity started on Friday with two practice sessions. Of the two sessions, Andy Wallace posted the team's best time of the day in the Friday morning practice session with a time of 1:48.071.

The third and final practice on Saturday morning was under heavy rain that saw most teams, including Howard-Boss Motorsport, play it safe and not attempt to set the fastest times - but to continue to work on the race set-up.

The team tested here in May in order to get a jump-start on the set-up for the race here this weekend. And while the test yielded valuable results and a base-point from which to start the set-up, the team made a decision to set aside some of the information learned from the test and start anew in some respects this weekend. The decision is paying dividends as the lap times so far in the practice and qualifying sessions are quicker than the best times set at the test.

This 22nd running of the Sahlen's Six Hours of the Glen on Sunday will fall on Father's Day and will be televised live - in two parts - on the SPEED Channel with part one beginning at 11:00am EST and part two beginning at 3:00pm EST. The world-famous circuit boasts both a long and short course. The Rolex Sports Car Series race will be on the long course which features 11 turns in its 3.4 miles.
