PONTIAC PICKS CHAMPION RACER MILKA DUNO

History-Making Woman Racer Centerpiece in Pontiac's Largest-Ever Hispanic Marketing Campaign

July 14, 2004 - The Pontiac Division of General Motors Corporation has announced that it has signed an agreement with champion race car driver Milka Duno - the first woman in history to achieve an overall win in a major North American sports car race.

Under the agreement, Milka will appear in Pontiac's largest-ever Hispanic marketing campaign that will integrate in-language, culturally relevant broadcast, print, web and promotional advertising to launch the G6 -- Pontiac's all-new sports sedan that will dramatically reinvigorate the midsize market.

"The G6 is Pontiac's most significant new car launch to date," said Jim Bunnell, general manager of Pontiac-GMC.  "Milka's style, sophistication and control are a perfect portrayal of the new attitude, fresh design direction and renewed performance spirit displayed by the G6."

Duno's qualities and achievements as a successful female in the male dominated sport of racing are not the only traits that drew Pontiac to her.
A naval engineer, she speaks three languages and has four masters degrees (earning the last three simultaneously) that she obtained in Venezuela and Spain.  "Milka's educational background and pursuit of action and performance are attractive credentials," said Mark-Hans Richer, Pontiac marketing director.  "Her independence and achievements provide a positive and engaging role model for women and Hispanics alike.  We're delighted to expand our winning partnership."

Milka will continue to compete this full season in the Rolex Sports Car Championship Series with Andy Wallace as her co-driver in the #2 CITGO Pontiac Crawford  -- in which the duo scored their first win of the season at the Grand Prix of Miami this past February.

"Pontiac power helped me to my first major win on the race track," commented Milka Duno.  "I am now happy to represent Pontiac off the race track too...I have a passion for cars and I am really excited to be a part of Pontiac's efforts to launch new and innovative products.  I am honored to have been chosen as the individual to help personalize the Pontiac brand for the Hispanic community."

Milka has had many firsts in her racing career including - with her win at the Grand Prix of Miami this year - becoming the first woman in history to win a major North American sports car race. Milka is also the first woman in history to pilot the two fastest sports cars in the world - the Daytona Prototype and the Le Mans Prototype 900.
