MILKA DUNO FINISHES 17TH AT BOMBARDIER LEARJET 550K
AT TEXAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY JUNE 7

FORT WORTH, TX (June 9, 2008) - After a consistent effort on the 1.5 mile oval, Milka Duno finished 17th during the Bombardier Learjet 500k at Texas Motor Speedway.  Milka started 27th and ended up gaining 10 positions at the notoriously challenging track.

Duno remained on the lead lap for much of the first half of the race and good pit strategy and consistently fast laps by Duno meant that the #23 CITGO Dallara Honda IndyCar reached as high as second place in the race (only behind Briscoe who ended up finishing 3rd).  Unfortunately a problem in the pits when Duno had to avoid a mechanic of another team caused the #23 car to lose two laps.

"This was a fantastic race,” said Duno.  “I felt that the car was very good and kept me running flat while I stayed mostly inside,” said Duno.  “Considering my best lap was only 1.70 miles per hour off the leader’s best speed of 213.87mph, I am happy with my performance.  I’m grateful for my Dryer & Reinbold Racing team for making the necessary adjustments since qualifying and helping produce good race results.”

Duno is the only female Hispanic to be racing in the IndyCar Series and was the only female driver to finish at the 2008 Indianapolis 500.  Her remaining schedule includes seven more races, beginning with Iowa Speedway scheduled June 22.

Her list of accomplishments in racing is as important as her vast education.  Duno is a certified Naval Engineer who holds four master’s degrees.  Off the track, Duno appeared in the May 2009 released Warner Bros. movie, “Speed Racer” and launched a new, bilingual children’s book, “Go, Milka, Go!”    For more information, visit www.milkaduno.com.
