MILKA RECEIVES KEY TO CITY OF INDIANAPOLIS
Duno Honored by Association of Venezuelans in Indiana

LOS ANGELES, CA (June 1, 2007) – Popular Venezuelan racer and Indy 500 rookie Milka Duno was honored on Friday, May 25, 2007 during “Carburetion Day” at Indianapolis Motor Speedway by the Association of Venezuelans in Indiana (AVI) at the Indianapolis Brickyard Crossing Inn Resort.

AVI organized the event leading up to the 91st Indy 500 to honor Milka for being the first Venezuelan and first Latina to qualify and compete in the world famous Indy 500 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on May 27.

AVI is a non-for-profit organization with the goal of promoting and supporting the traditions and values of Venezuela in Indiana. AVI was represented by its President Mr. Ramon J Eulacio, Secretary Mrs. Fuensanta M. Guevara and Vice President Mr. Teo Camejo. They presented a plaque to Milka with the following inscription:

The Association of Venezuelans in Indiana presents this plaque to Milka Duno as recognition for being a role model of the Venezuelan’s values and for her performance that allowed her to be the first Latin-American woman to participate in the Indianapolis 500.

At the request of AVI, Mayor Bart Peterson, through the Director of Latino Affairs for the Mayor’s Office Mr. Ricardo Gambetta, presented Milka with the Key of the City of Indianapolis.

“There are many events and activities that drivers attend as part of the month of May leading up to the Indy 500 – but this event was so very special for me,” said Duno. “I am very proud to be Venezuelan and extremely proud to be the first Venezuelan to qualify for the world’s most famous race. And to be recognized – here at Indianapolis Motor Speedway - by my fellow Venezuelans is such an incredible honor. Both the plaque and the key to the city were complete surprises – and I will cherish both of them for the rest of my life. My heartfelt thanks go out to AVI, the City and People of Indianapolis and all those that attended.”

Also attending the event were prominent members of the Hispanic community in Indianapolis - such as Martha Pabon, Hispanic Outreach Liaison for US Senator Evan Bayh, Marco Dominguez, General Manager and Anchor of the Univision affiliate in Indianapolis and Isaac Peña, President of CVLatina Magazine.
