![]() Open Telefnica Nissan
In the Open Telefonica Nissan, Milka drives a single seater, open wheel Coloni CN1/C for the Italian Vergani Racing Team. This championship is considered the ideal staring point on the road to access the world's two main single seater categories; Formula 3000 and Formula 1. The program consists this year of fourteen races at circuits in Spain, Italy and France, most of them on tracks also used by Formula 1. The Open Telefonica has produced such champions as Marc Gené and Fernando Alonso, both prominent Spanish candidates for Formula 1. Characteristics and features of the cars and the high level of the participating teams, as well as technical and sporting rules which have only one goal in mind; rewarding the drivers' talents, make this one of the most competitive championships in the world Propelled by a 4 cylinder Nissan engine developing over 260 HP the Coloni CN1/C can reach speeds close to 280 km/h. On some circuits they are even faster than Formula 3000, even though the latter have almost twice as much power. Since 1998, sixtyone drivers, from thirteen nations on three continents: Argentina, Belgium, Chile, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, have participated in the Open Telefonica Nissan. We can now add Venezuela, with Milka Duno. At each race weekend there are two races. The first about 30 minutes. The second about 45 minutes with a compulsory pit stop to change two wheels. After Formula 1 and Formula 3000, the Open Telefonica Formula Nissans are the fastest cars in European racing. A comparative study showing the lap times of different cars shows that on average, the Coloni Nissan is just 1.8 seconds a lap slower than Formula 3000 but 2 seconds a lap faster than European Formula 3.
